UNDERSTANDING PHASE CHANGE

As part of the class 'Radical Representations' I am investigating the idea of phase change, specifically looking at it through the lense of 'the event'.  Through multi-layered overlays, these drawings begin to look at the phenomenology of the process of phase change, studying the pattern logic, effect and molecular result of this ubiquitous mechanism.

The various states of matter are represented in a beatific way, while specifically looking at the molecular organisation that occurs through phase change

Again the molecular interactions are examined but now it is seen on a more systemic level where inputs are perceived as ubiquitous background colours.

This diagram looks at the embedded impurities found in water and the purification process that occurs though the evaporation event

Again the purification mechanism is the subject, but here that idea is seen more at the simple process level.

Here a closer look is taken at the residue left behind and the colouration and pattern logic that comes out of the same evaporation event.
